Ten years ago we transformed ourselves from a small language dubbing studio in Toronto into one of the top creators of descriptive video in the world! It was, back then, a gutsy move, but one that we thought would fit well with our combined talents. And it has paid off in spades. During the last ten years we have described many thousands of hours of TV… as someone once put it, a very noble way to make a living.
What will be next? There are always new and exciting ideas floating around, but top of that list right now has to be the project to put all that content online, so that everyone, not just those in Canada with access to DV on their television sets, can have a chance to enjoy it.
We’re also looking forward to an increase in both scope and volume of accessibility for Canadians and Americans. With the new accessibility mandate kicking in later this year, and groups on both sides of the border striving to make television accessible to all by the year 2020, the future of descriptive video and closed captioning looks assured.
Stay tuned!
